While I’m waiting for the Crilly interview to load up I’m having fond memories of hangin’ with The Crilly Fam at the End of Summer Festival hosted by Eater of Worlds this past Sunday. I’m thinking about perception versus reality, and how well art reflects whatever condition society is in. And I’m thinking about how those super chill humans made some very perceptive art and how it was my pleasure to learn more about them during the course of this interview.
SHOUT OUT to every Crilly, known and uknown, and if you don’t see your Crilly name below, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what it is.
The following is a list of Crilly Fam that was involved or otherwise mentioned during the process of this interview. (Also shown in the credits at the end of the video)

ON “CRILLY” The Record…The hippest thing about the Crilly record is that it doesn’t sound like anything I’d expect to have come solely from hip hop–because it hasn’t. The concepts, sounds, and content are concocted from experiences. And those experiences happened at different periods, and those periods were soundtracked by different genres. All of that is at the very forefront of this project, it isn’t coded or tucked away. What they want versus what they have is stated plainly in the lyrics. What they love is shown.
I would recommend listening to the Crilly album for several reasons, one being how nice Preme is with the beats. He’s a craftsman, truly. Another reason is the idea of conscious music. Listening to this project with the intent to review it, I thought about what it meant to be conscious…I even looked it up:
aware of and responding to one’s surroundings; awake.
With that definition in mind, the Crilly project is filled with highly emotional and conscious music. It’s art made by people being exactly who they are in a very specific moment…and they’re allowing us too peek in on it.
Check it out, tell a friend. Share the music and the interview and GET TO KNOW A CRILLY!
